Best Boss Take 5 | Know Your Saboteurs

In the next few Take 5s, we’re diving into a concept I use with all my coaching clients. It’s called Positive Intelligence, and it’s from a book by Shirzad Chamine. I highly recommend giving it a read.

So, what’s the deal with Positive Intelligence? It’s all about understanding how your mind can either help or hinder you. To get to the root of it, you need to know your “saboteurs.” Here are three steps to help you out:

  1. Assess Your Saboteurs: Start by taking this free online assessment. Get your results and really zero in on your saboteurs. See if they resonate with you. If you have questions about how to use them or understand them, feel free to reach out.
  2. Honor Your Saboteurs: There are 10 types of saboteurs, each with strengths and weaknesses. For instance, I’ve got the “restless,” “hyperachiever,” and “controller” saboteurs. They’ve helped get me where I am, but they can also hold me back. So, recognize that each saboteur has a strength embedded in it that we want to honor and nourish.
  3. Catch Your Saboteurs: When emotions run high, or you feel off, that’s likely a saboteur at work. Keep an eye out and be aware when one starts to take over.

Next week, we’ll look at the flip side—your “sage” mode of thinking. Stay tuned!
